ADTA to increase overseas promotions in 2009

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the apex body which manages the tourism industry in Abu Dhabi emirate, is to mount pavilions at 17 overseas exhibitions across 11 countries in 2009 - three more than in 2008. Cruise tourist arrivals in Dubai will grow more than 75 per cent to 200,000 this year in a boost to the city's ambition of becoming a maritime business hub. Official figures show the city has come a long way as a cruise destination in five years. The exchange of flags aboard the QE2 on Thursday sealed the vessel's new ownership under master-developer Nakheel. Ratings to prepare for medical tourism bid

Doctors and hospitals are to be given performance ratings as part of plans to make the UAE a destination for medical tourists. The Ministry of Health announced the ratings system will be based on stars similar to those awarded to hotels, enabling people to see which professionals or clinics rate highest or provide the best treatment for particular procedures or operations.
