Value of construction deals in UAE falls 85% Posted on 01/01/2009
The value of construction contracts awarded in the UAE fell by 85 per cent in the fourth quarter compared to the same period last year, London-based weekly Middle East Economic Digest said.
Contract awards worth US$14.4 billion were made during the fourth quarter of 2008, down from US$98.1 billion during the same period in 2007 as the global credit crisis rendered project financing a struggle, MEED said.

Ajman continues to pave the way for big real estate projects to be developed in the emirate by continuing to execute various infrastructure projects, including road networks, and water and drainage systems.

Creek expansion to make Bur Dubai an island Posted on 02/11/2008
The planned extension of Dubai Creek will create a complete inland waterway from Deira to Jumeirah, turning Bur Dubai into an island.
Dubai Creek, which starts from the Arabian Gulf near Al Shindagha in Bur Dubai, is currently 14km long and ends at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.
It will be extended by another 12.2km from Ras Al Khor, back to the Arabian Gulf, passing through Business Bay, Sheikh Zayed Road, Safa Park, Al Wasl, Jumeirah 2 and the Jumeirah Beach Park.

Khorfakkan desalination plants begins operation Posted on 20/10/2008
The Khorfakkan Desalination plant began production yesterday with a generation capacity of 5 million gallons per day, the Sharjah Electricity '&' Water Authority (SEWA) announced.

Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer Aldar Properties PJSC has borrowed Dh6.98 billion (US$1.9 billion) this financial year for project funding, a top-ranking company executive said on Wednesday.

Jebel Ali sewage water pumping station to be ready by mid 2009 Posted on 17/09/2008
Dubai Municipality has completed more than 58pc of the work of setting up the new sewage water pumping station at Jebel Ali, which is being set up at a cost of Dh195 million. The project, fifth biggest of the ongoing projects of the Municipality's Drainage and Irrigation Department, also includes setting up of necessary supporting pipelines.

Burj Dubai, the iconic tower being developed by Emaar Properties PJSC, has reached a new record height of 688 meters (2,257.2 ft).
