The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) is planning to expand its financial aid programme to eight new countries next in spite of the global financial meltdown.
"We are not planning any slowdown of our activities in the backdrop of the financial meltdown. We have enough liquidity to expand our activities.  Zayed Foundation and Government of Senegal sign agreement

The Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works and the Government of Senegal have signed a cooperative agreement.
According to this agreement, the Zayed Foundation will execute two charity projects, one of which will be a maternity hospital while another will be construction of a number of water wells.

Under the directions of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Bin Nahyan, UAE President, to develop Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Residential City in Cairo, on a site of 2.2 million sq metres of land, Abu Dhabi Municipality signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emaar Misr for Development, the wholly owned subsidiary of Emaar Properties PJSC.

 Emaar to construct US$100m city in Egypt

Abu Dhabi Municipality has contracted Emaar Properties to build Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed City in New Cairo, Egypt, at a cost of US$100m (Dh367m).
The city is a gift from the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, to Egyptian youth with limited income.

 Giving Hands conducts 50 delicate surgeries in Eritrea

Asmara - Paediatricians of the UAE Red Crescent sponsored 'The Giving Hands Initiative' has conduct 50 complicated surgeries on underprivileged children suffering from congenital deformities in the digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems.
Prof. Michael Geber, Director of Teaching Hospital, Asmara, where these surgeries were performed, said the team of world prominent doctors had diagnosed delicate cases and cured them especially among children in the age group 1 to 3 years.

The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) laid yesterday the foundation stone of a psychiatric hospital here as part of UAE efforts to develop health services in Afghanistan.
Humaid Al Shamsi, Head of Emergency Response Unit, said the Dh 2.9 million health facility, the largest of its kind in Afghanistan in term of capacity and fittings, would provide health services for Afghanis who were suffering psychological shocks from the tragic circumstances and event in the country.

Abu Dhabi fund for Development has offered a 3.3 million Euro grant to Comoros to help renovate a hospital, with possibility of financing some road projects in that country.

Dar-es-Salam - A team from the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) arrived in Tanzania to provide medical services and treatment for those who suffer from curable blindness and other eye diseases.

A team from the UAE Red Crescent Authority (UAERCA) will leave for Tanzania on Friday to provide medical services and treatment for those who suffer from curable blindness and other eye-related diseases.
